SALAM PEMBACA

Learning English ( Part 4 )

This is Mr. Odjie from under City.
In today lesson we want talk about the awkward and some would say embarrassing subject of our faults fault and bad habits.
The word fault means something that is not perfect or isn’t completely correct. There are other words that can be connected to fault, such as..
Abnormalty, blemish, defacement, defect, disfigurement, failing, flaw, imperfection and irreqularity.
All of those words you just heard relate to the appearance of something, or hoe it looks. However, the word “fault” can also be used to show a wrong action.
We can say..
“it is your fault.”
“That is your mistake.”
“You did that wrong.”
“That happened because of you.”
“You must take the blame for this.”
“You really screwed up.”

When we use these sentences we are telling the other person that they are responsible for the mistake. We are blaming them for it. Of course, a fault can also be related to another part of our behaviour.. bad habits.

Bad habits are the things we do that annoy other people or may appear unpleasant, rude od even dengerous.
There are many bad habits around for example..
Biting your fingernails
Talking with your mouth full of food
Picking your nose
Not taking a regular bath or shower
Being late for an appointment
Watching too much TV
Drinking too much alcohol such as beer or wine
Smoking cigarettes
Not changing your socks
Talking for ages on the phone

There are other words that can be used to describe our personal habits, such as..
Custom, eccentricity, foible, idiosyncrasy, oddness, peculiarity, quirk, routine and shortcoming.

It is fair to say that nobody is perfect. We all have little habits or something we do that annoy others. Sometimes they may be hard to accept. They can even lead to the break-up of relationships, such as marriage.
So it is true to say that everyone has some little fault that is a part od hos or her character. The only way to really deal with it is to try and love with it, or the cosequences could be disastrous.

Learning English ( Part 3 )

You know the world of english is a fascinating and exciting place to be, I am so glad you could to read my blog.
In this meeting we are going to explore the delicate and some would day dangerous process of giving and receiving compiments.
The word compliment can be used in two ways. It can describe two or more items, or things that go together well or it can mean a kind of sentence which is spoken to someone as a way of saying something nice about the way they look or about something they heve done.
There are other words that mean or relate to compliment such as accolade, cajole, commend, extol, fatter, praise, seet-talk, pay tributte.
When we use a complimentary sentence it is normally done as a way of making the person we are talking to feel good. It is given out of kindness. For most of the time, it is used as a positive way of speaking. However, sometimes a compliment may not be well received, the person to whom you are speaking may believe that you do not really mean what you are saying. They may see you word as “Insincere” or “False”.
So giving a compliment can sometimes be arisky thing to do. There is of course an opposite to compliment when we want to make a bad comment which relates to someone, we criticise a person, we deride someone, we condemn them, we put them down, we scorn them, we roast them or we diss them.
Compliments can relate to almost anything. You can compliment someone clothing for example.
“Oh I really do like your new jacket, it really suits you.”
“Those shoes are just perfect, where did you buy them?” “You look so glamour.”
“Wow..!! I like your new hat, you look so cool in it.”
“Oh.., did you make this yourself? I must have the recipe.”
“Oh.., I must give my compliment to the Chef.”

You can compliment someones taste or choice.
“Oh, your house looks great, you have good taste in furniture.”
“ I really like what you have done with this house, so stylish..!!.”
“ Wow, did you choose the furniture yoursel?” “You have very good taste.”

You can even make a general compliment about the way someone looks or their appaearance.
”Wow.. you really look great today”. “Is it my imagination, or are you the most beautiful person in the world?”.

In fact you can give a compliment about and to almost anything.
Giving a compliment is the perfect way to show you care about someone.
And it is a great way to express how much you appreciate another person.
But remember not to use them too often, or they wil start to sound fake or insincere.

Learning English (Part 2)

In this lesson we going talk about.. body language
Expressing your self using body language..
When we say “express yourself” we mean that you show the way you feel about something
Or your reaction. There are two way to express yourself by doing or by saying.
Showing your reaction by doing normally means using your body. Maybe the expression on your face will change but you say nothing, that mean you “pull a face”, maybe you wave your arms around in anger, perhaps you stamp your foot, maybe you jump up and down or maybe you simply walk away.
We call these particular reactions “body language”
Example of body language..
Happy, miserable, excited, lonely, unsure, angry, shy, bored, hungry, feeling proud, confused, sleppy, exausted and surprised.
You may not realize it, but we use body language, all the time. Even you’re sitting still and saying nothing you are still sending out messages to other people using your body language.
When we are looking for partner body language is very important. You want to other people around you to know that you are attracted to them. So body language is very important, if you are trying to find a mate. There are many ways to get the attention of a possible mate. But out of all the available methods, body language is still the best way. We call this method of attraction “flirting” and both Men and Women are capable of this. You could say that it is a part of nature just like all those wild animals in the jungle. So the next time you are sitting on a train or enjoying the party or simply walking through the town, remember your body is always giving off signals.

Your body language never stops.
This is Mr. Odjie. Thanks for reading, see you to the next story.

LEARNING ENGLISH

Hello ..
Welcome to the my blog.
This is a Mr. Odjie from under city..
Learning english it is a second language..
So.. before I begin we wil look at the some of common questions that often arise when talking about learning the English language ,
So..the first question must be..
“why do we need learning english?”
Of course one of the reasons why we need to be able speak English nowadays, is because the world is becoming smaller.
Thanks to the internet, and our developing global economy more and more people are using english as a common way to communicate with each other. So now it was become unavoidable that the companies dan large businesses will need to employ people who can speak more than their own native language.

That is where English comes in.. it is now officially considered as an international language.
Of course learning everything is dificult and english is no exception.
However there are ways to make the situation easier. I have come up with my own list of general rules for learning english.
Do you want to hear them?
Do you want to know what they are?
Let’s go..!!!!!

Learning english takes time and patience it cannot be rushed try to relax and take it easy.
The most imprtant thing you need at the beginning is a good vocabolary. Without words, you have nothing to work with. You must start with a strong foundation or base and slowly build on it, day by day.
You must view English as a part of your body just as you would, an arm or a leg. It must become a part of your everyday life. Daily practice is very important. Don’t worry about making mistakes, in fact the more mistakes you make the more you will learn from them. Just like learning to ride a bike.
Sometimes you fall off, so what do you do? You get back on dan try again.

Do not look at English as just another subject. Your attitude to English and the way you view it will decide how well you progress. Just as we say in English “No pain No gain”.
The two most important words to remember when learning English are.. “Practice and Confidence”.
Practice english everyday and be confident. You will find that the more you use English the better your english will become. And the more confident your become and the more you will want to use it. Make it a rule to tell yourself,
I can do it.. I can do it.. I can do it....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
